Phonics Learning 11: The Sound of ou / ow

Read the article and complete the activities:

The circus came to town last week. It was great fun. There were two clowns who really made us laugh. One was Slouchy, and the other was Grouchy. The crowd howled when they rode around in their little cars chasing each other.

Both clowns wore clown suits with cute hats. Slouchy had a tall red hat with a small brim, but Grouchy had a flat green hat with a large brim. They both had big red mouths. Slouchy’s mouth was a smile, but Grouchy’s mouth was a frown. Their shoes were different too. Slouchy had shoes that made him bounce from place to place. Grouchy’s shoes were bigger and turned up at the toes.

We watched all the acts for two hours. It was amazing how the clowns could do so many funny things and yet never make a sound. They just ran round and round acting silly. What fun it was!
